1st PTA Assembly rocks
With the theme, “In Unity there is Strength”, the first Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Assembly of Sibulan National High School, highlighted primarily by the delivery of the State of the School Address (SOSA), was a rousing success.
Reeling off at exactly 9 o’clock in the morning, on June 21, 2014, a Saturday, at the Sibulan Municipal Auditorium, the PTA assembly commenced with the singing of the Pambansang Awit, led by Mrs. Feddie Bombeth Banagudos, then followed by song of worship sang by Chinky Busmeon, grade 8 SPED student. An introductory speech of the school principal, Mr. Ernesto Ronald Tenorio, served as starter, whereupon he heartily acknowledged the throng of parents who took off from their busy routines in order to attend the assembly. An appropriate introduction of the school administrators, faculty and staff to the parents and students took place as well.
As he shifted to his SOSA, Mr. Tenorio, whose assignment at SNHS is barely two years, presented at length his accomplishments that focused mainly on how he had endeavored to implement his plans for the school and simultaneously perpetuated the programs and projects to ensure that the students’ educational experience would be the best it can be during the year that was.
To the pleasure of everyone present, he also stressed in his address that among his priority projects is the construction of the Covered Court in the Main Campus. “If we have our own auditorium, we can hold our activities inside the campus anytime. Moreover, this would refrain the students from leaving the school whenever events are held at the auditorium, unlike what is happening now, where students can freely go since the Sibulan Municipal Covered Auditorium is outside the campus and it is where we usually hold our activities,” he added. In this quest, he said that the school is all out in seeking a benefactor or donor who can be of help in realizing this dream.
The SOSA is an avenue for the school to inform the various stakeholders on how financial resources, including the allotment for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), are managed. For this, Mr. Tenorio gave the audience a glimpse of the numerous improvements and projects he has initiated during the year that had passed. And, in line with his thrust at fostering transparency and accountability, the financial reports of various school organizations were likewise presented. In closing, the school principal expressed gratification that one way or another, parents, teachers and stakeholders in attendance displayed support for his mission by giving him a good round of applause.
An important official who graced the occasion was Sibulan Mayor Emmanuel N. Diputado, where in his speech, he underscored the value of unity among teachers, stakeholders and parents as an essential element in realizing the school’s mission. He posed a challenge to the parents to support the school programs and projects especially in strengthening the school policies, an area that is being handled by Mrs. Kathleen Omoso, guidance counselor of the school. Subsequent to this, was the financial report for school year 2014-2015, rendered by the PTA president, Mr. Remegio Divinagracia and Mr. Randy Tan, PTA treasurer.
The assembly ended up with the election of the homeroom PTA officers in the classrooms. Indeed, it was a fine day to reckon as its transpiration rocked.
